A native of Utah, I am a graduate of Orem High School, Brigham Young University and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. I served a welfare mission in Honduras, and have worked in Public Health and Education in three states and four countries, including work with the American Red Cross. I have directed a national scholarship program, and have taught at BYU. I co-chair a Vocational Training committee as a board member of Cause for Hope, a nonprofit promoting self-reliance in Central America.

Currently a homemaker, I am the wife of Van Newby and the mother of Chandler, Caleb, Brendan, Emma, and Ammon. I am active in church and community service, and volunteer in the Cub Scouts and as a Boy Scout merit badge counselor. I support hunger causes, and have participated in a community food co-op, soup kitchens, and food drives. I enjoy ballroom dancing with my husband and attending my children’s soccer games, track meets, and dance recitals.

A Mainstream Voice
I share your concerns. Improving Education is my top priority. Our children deserve smaller classes, updated textbooks, more access to technology, and the finest teachers. We simply must focus more attention and resources on what we value most.

I love this beautiful state, and believe our cities and towns should be attractive and accessible. With the loss of many orchards and farm lands in Orem and Provo, we deserve responsible urban growth, including well-planned residential and business development, transportation routes, and green space.

My parents and grandparents taught me to respect the amazing natural and human resources here in Utah. I support wise stewardship over our resources, which includes banning nuclear waste transportation and storage, public input on energy exploitation and intelligent solutions to affordable health care.
